To account for the variability of outcome-reporting methods, the authors categorized hearing outcomes into high performance, intermediate performance, low performance, environmental only, and no response. Overall, more postoperative hearing outcomes were placed in the higher- and intermediate-performance categories than lower performance, which indicated that select patients with neurofibromatosis-related vestibular schwannoma and sporadic vestibular schwannoma benefited from cochlear impant placement.
