Single-subject research design studies

29 identified by the systematic review; 23 included in the meta-analysis

Included studies indicated self-management techniques to be an effective intervention for students with autism spectrum disorder in the areas of social skills [Percentage of nonoverlapping data (PND)= 79.8%] and academic behaviors (PND = 93.3%).

This review documented successful outcomes of self-management interventions in a variety of naturalistic settings and across age groups. Moreover, results generalized to other untreated behaviors (e.g., disruptive behavior) and settings and were maintained over time.
