Findings revealed reality orientation therapy of at least 600 minutes of intervention improved cognition in older people with dementia with a moderate effect size (<em>g</em>) of 0.39. Statistically significant effects were demonstrated with reality orientation therapy alone (<em>g</em> = 0.50) and paired with other cognitive interventions (<em>g</em> = 0.34). Further research is indicated.
