Limited findings demonstrated "positive results in language development through the use of recast, linguistic mapping, target-level talk, responsive feedback, matched turns, expansions, prompting, descriptive praise, gestural or visual cues, modelling, imitation, presenting choices, and instituting wait time" (p. 1521). Negative findings were demonstrated following the use of directives, and mixed findings were noted following undefined "ineffective questioning techniques" (p. 1521). Limitations include an overall lack of reporting of treatment fidelity, small sample sizes, and unknown risk of bias. Further research is indicated.
