Due to variability of implementation of Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention, the authors were unable to determine which components contributed to the treatment outcomes. Results indicated that several studies did not use information about treatment implementation to analyze and interpret the intervention effects determine the variables that influenced the outcomes of the child. "It would thus be important to take a close look at the fidelity and quality of the implementation of these procedures with children with [autism spectrum disorders] ASD…. The present review shows that dosage and adherence are currently well described, but that few studies provide sufficient information to replicate the intervention in practice and systematically assess adherence to the proposed intervention protocol" (p. 6).
