One study investigating the effects of expiratory muscle strength training on dysphagia symptoms in patients with IBM found no significant improvements in swallowing function or quality of life. Due to the limited number of studies and a lack of long-term follow-up data, additional research is warranted.

Four studies investigating the effects of a combination of intervention types (e.g., Botox and swallow therapy; swallowing exercises with balloon dilation and Botox; swallowing consultation and additional intervention procedures) on dysphagia symptoms in patients with IBM reported mixed outcomes. Due to the limited number of studies and a lack of long-term follow-up data, additional research is warranted.
