Video modeling (VM) and video self-modeling (VSM) meet the criteria adopted by the authors to be considered an evidence-based practice and are effective intervention strategies for targeting social-communication skills. These interventions "promote skill acquisition" and "are maintained over time and transferred across persons and settings" (p. 281). "Results of the meta-analysis indicate that VM and VSM are effective for a broad range of children and adolescents and can be implemented in a variety of settings" (p. 285).
