This meta-analysis investigates the diagnostic accuracy of the Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale as a cognitive assessment tool for identifying dementia in adults. Although speech-language pathologists do not diagnose dementia, findings from this review may be useful for identifying tools for detection of cognitive impairments in this population.

The Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale (RUDAS) had adequate sensitivity (77.2%; 95% CI 67.4–84.5) and specificity (85.9%; 95% CI 74.8–92.6) for identifying individuals with dementia from culturally and linguistically diverse populations. However, compared to the Mini-Mental State Examination, the RUDAS appeared to be less affected by language and education level.
