Cognitive assessments are essential for diagnosing and managing individuals with vascular dementia and should be conducted on all individuals (Level A Evidence). In addition to assessing global cognition, memory, instrumental and executive function and qualitative and quantitative aspects of cognition should be assessed using more in-depth tests (Level A Evidence).
