The use of mobile health apps designed to support parents of children aged 2 to 6 on the autism spectrum was associated with mixed outcomes. However, when compared to face-to-face parental support, outcomes were noted to be similar in a limited number of studies. No overarching statements regarding the efficacy of these programs could be made due to small sample sizes and heterogeneity between studies (i.e., desired outcomes, treatment approach, app design). Additionally, the authors noted an overall lack of usability, feasibility, and/or efficacy testing. Further research is warranted.
