"Results of the included studies indicate that early diagnosis and intervention leads to better outcomes, the [Early Start Denver Model] ESDM is an efficacious intervention for young children [on the autism spectrum] ...., parents have the potential to deliver ESDM effectively in the home, and community-based group settings using the ESDM intervention have contributed to greater increases in developmental rates, receptive language development, and cognitive abilities" (p. 336).

"Overall, the [Early Start Denver Model] ESDM is a promising intervention for young children [on the autism spectrum] .... The current research supporting its use and efficacy is limited, and the scope for future research in this area is vast" (p. 336).
