The findings suggest that an overall cutoff score of 23, rather than 26 of 30, maximized true positive rates while minimizing false negatives when administering the MoCA. Meta-analysis revealed that sensitivity was highest (1.00) when using cutoff scores of 28, 29 and 30. Specificity was highest (0.98) when using cutoff scores of 19 and 20. However additional research examining normative data stratified by education, age and culturally based translations is needed to further refine the optimal cutoff score to different MCI and healthy cognitive aging in the adult population.
