<div>PICUs should have a transfer plan in place to assist in the referral to a specialized facility such as a rehabilitation facility. Following discharge from the PICU careful care coordination with outpatient services should take place to address ongoing rehabilitation needs including speech-language pathology. </div>
<div>Rehabilitation services including speech-language therapy were recommended to be available on a consultation bases, with speech-language pathologists as an essential member of the quaternary/specialized, tertiary, or community PICU. Support service personnel including speech-language pathologists should have expertise in providing care to the patient and family.</div>
