Tinnitus retraining therapy (TRT) focusing on sound habituation showed evidence as an effective behavioral treatment for pulsatile tinnitus symptoms. Compared to standard care, TRT combined with cognitive behavioral therapy in a stepped-care tinnitus management program showed greater symptom improvements in areas such as tinnitus severity, impairment, health-related quality of life, negative emotional states, catastrophic thinking, and tinnitus-related fear.

Limitations of this review include a lack of high-quality evidence. Additional research on treatment options for pulsatile tinnitus is needed.
