<div>This review reported the following effects of hearing amplification on academic outcomes for children with UHL:</div>

<ul>
<li>One small study demonstrated significant improvement of subjective classroom listening difficulties in children with UHL following a 3- to 4-month trial of behind-the-ear hearing aids.</li>
<li>One small study demonstrated that hearing aids with contralateral routing of signals improved auditory-related behaviors after 6 months of use, with no impact at the 3 or 12 month time points. No academic benefit was reported. </li>
<li>Two additional studies reported no academic impact following the use of hearing aids or FM systems.</li>
</ul>
<div>This review did not locate any research regarding the academic effects of bone-anchored hearing aids or cochlear implants.</div>

<div>Limitations to this review include limited research, small and ill-defined study samples, reduced quality of included research, and heterogeneity between studies. Additional research is warranted. </div>
