There is conflicting as well as insufficient evidence for the validity and reliability of cervical auscultation to diagnosis adults with suspected dysphagia. The diagnostic accuracy of cervical auscultation as a stand alone assessment varied with sensitivity and specificity ranging from 23-95% and 50-74%, respectively.
