The following screening tools were identified for use in adults with Parkinson's Disease:

the Drooling Impact Scale (DIS),

the Sialorrhea Scoring Scale (SSS),

the Drooling Severity and Frequency Scale (DSFS),

the Drooling Rating Scale (DRS),

the Sialorrhea Clinical Scale for Parkinson Disease (SCS-PD), and

the Radboud Oral Motor inventory for Parkinson’s disease – Saliva (ROMPsaliva).

Findings revealed that the ROMPsaliva scale was the only screening tool that had adequate psychometric properties and met the criteria for recommended use as defined by the Movement Disorder Taskforce. The DRS and SCS-PD met the criteria for suggested use with people with Parkinson's disease. Due to limited investigation into the psychometric properties of these assessment tools, further research is warranted.
