For individuals with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease, combined cognitive training and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor (ChEIs) therapy (SMD: 6.27, 95% CI: -1.05, 13.44) was associated with better outcomes on the Mini-Mental State Examination when compared all other included treatments. Psychosocial interventions in general were found to be associated with the improvement or maintenance of cognitive skills, however many treatments were outside of SLP scope (e.g., walking programs, exercise programs, art therapy).
