"Automated audiometry produces clinically acceptable results compared with traditional audiometry" (p. 274). Automated audiometry strengths include cost savings and improved accessibility. Weaknesses of using automated audiometry include the impact of environmental noise, the limitations of bone-conduction hearing threshold testing, and the consistency of the quality of test results. Further research is need to assess the sensitivity and specificity of automated audiometry tools.
