<div>This systematic review examines the diagnostic accuracy of the Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU) and the Intensive Care Delirium Screening Checklist (ICDSC) in detecting delirium in adults (ages 18 years or older) in intensive care units. Of note, although speech-language pathologists (SLPs) do not diagnose delirium, SLPs may administer delirium screening tools as part of a multidisciplinary effort to prevent and manage delirium.</div>

<div>Both the Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU) and the Intensive Care Delirium Screening Checklist (ICDSC) had adequate psychometric properties to accurately detect delirium in adults in intensive care units. The CAM-ICU had a pooled sensitivity and specificity of 0.84 and 0.95, respectively, and the ICDSC had a pooled sensitivity and specificity of 0.83 and 0.87, respectively. Limitations of the review included heterogeneity of participant characteristics and risk of bias across studies.</div>
