<div>Handheld technology for vocational interventions demonstrated a large to very large effect on individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities; however, the studies used these handheld technologies in combination with additional evidence-based components (e.g., prompting, self-monitoring). The authors conclude that "portable technology may be best conceptualized as a useful intervention modality rather than a standalone intervention", but due to the weak methodological quality ratings of the majority of included studies, "this area of research should be considered emerging and additional replications and extensions focused on a wider range of vocational skills, maintenance and generalization of outcomes, and aligning participant strengths, preferences, and interests with jobs that involve those characteristics is warranted" (p. 116).</div>
