16 studies; 3 reviews

For individuals with TBI, 16 studies and three reviews were identified that investigated social cognition treatments targeting emotional recognition (e.g., facial affect recognition, emotional prosody, body posture and movement), interpersonal and communication skills, theory of mind, and multi-component approaches. The authors found that combined approaches to social cognition treatment demonstrated encouraging results; however, the available research was limited and found to be relatively low level evidence. Further research is warranted.
