Findings indicated a limited number studies investigating team-oriented care, which may include a speech-language pathologist, for orofacial clefts. Therefore, the influence of team-oriented care on patient outcomes was unclear. "The findings here were primarily descriptive in nature … with less emphasis of the number and complexity of factors that influence use of team care. Similarly, few [studies] reported the specific contribution of team-oriented care to specific health-related outcomes" (p. 17).
