<div>This scoping review investigates the effects of interventions (i.e., speech, language, or behavioral) on behavioral outcomes in children, 3 to 8 years old, with speech and language delays and challenging behaviors (e.g., off-task behaviors, decreased self-regulation, decreased interactions with others).</div>

<div>Interventions targeting a combination of behavior managment, social communication skills, and speech and language skills (e.g., Hanen Program, Chicago school readiness project [CRSP], speech-therapy experiences in the public schools [STEPS], social story interventions, social problem-solving training) positively affected behavior, social interactions, speech and language skills, and academic outcomes in children with speech and language delays and challenging behaviors (e.g., off-task behaviors, decreased self-regulation, decreased interactions with others).</div>

<div>Limitations of this review include the inability to generalize the findings of the single-subject design studies to more diverse populations. Additional research with RCT designs and larger and more diverse populations is needed to examine the effect of behavioral interventions on developmental and academic outcomes, to determine the active components of the interventions, and to investigate long-term impact and maintenance effects.</div>
