Four studies were included in this review, one comparing the effect of group treatment to individual treatment, one comparing the effect of group treatment to a no treatment control, and two examining the effect of a combined group and individual treatment approach. The results from all included studies indicate that group aphasia treatment facilitates improvements in linguistic, pragmatic and discourse-based outcomes. Further research is warranted to determine the role of individual and group service delivery models to improve communication outcomes at the impairment, activity and participation levels.
