This guideline updates the American Academy of Neurology's 2001 guideline on mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Recommendations are provided on the assessment and management of MCI. While SLPs do not diagnose mild cognitive impairment, the findings may be applicable when screening or managing cognitive impairments.

When screening for MCI is appropriate, validated tools should be used (Level B).

Cognitive interventions may be recommended for individuals with MCI (Level C).
