This systematic review investigates the effects of simulated presence therapy on behavioral, psychological and quality of life outcomes in adults with dementia. This is an update of a 2017 Cochrane systematic review.

Three trials with low methodological quality revealed mixed findings for the effectiveness of simulated presence therapy on adults with dementia. No studies examined the effects of this treatment on quality of life or activities of daily living outcomes. Given the limited body of evidence, further research is warranted.
