The authors concluded that high dose (e.g., total hours, total number of therapeutic elements) language and communication interventions delivered over short intervention periods may improve treatment efficiency for adults with stroke-associated aphasia. However, person- and treatment-level factors may impact a patient's ability to tolerate high dose interventions. Due to inconsistent definitions of dosing terminology and the variability in measuring and reporting on dosage in the literature, additional research exploring dosage of language and communication treatments for adults with post-stroke aphasia is required.
