Picture naming treatments had a large positive effect on improved language outcomes (i.e., treated words) with a smaller effect for untreated words. Findings also suggest that treatment provided in high-dosage conditions was more beneficial than treatment provided in low dosage conditions. Findings were mixed when comparing massed versus distributive practice. Further well-powered research is needed to determine the specific dosage and duration of treatment needed for individuals with aphasia.
