The three most commonly used measures among deaf education researchers include:<ul> <li>the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT);</li> <li>the Expressive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Test (EOW-PVT); and</li> <li>Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals (CELF).</li></ul>"Overall, researchers assessed deaf and hard of hearing students with tests normed on hearing students ... employing a variety of English-based sign methods. It appears that using English-based sign does not interfere with the reliability or validity of assessment results, although modifications may be needed for certain test items or subtests" (p. 518).
