"These findings suggest that parent-implemented [functional communication training] FCT produces meaningful reductions in challenging behavior [e.g., self-injury, aggression] and that those changes tend to generalize to other situations and maintain over time. Specifically, the social validity evaluation suggests that FCT implemented by parents in typical intervention settings results in a reduction in challenging behavior" (p. 357).

"Parents report that [functional communication training] FCT is feasible and effective and that they are likely to continue using FCT" (p. 357).
