PECS showed improved language, social communication, as well as global skills on standardized measures. Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention showed similar improvements in overall functioning and adaptive behavior. Early Start Denver Model also showed improvements for cognitive functioning. Pivotal Response Treatment showed improved communication skills, social skills, visuospatial skills, fine motor skills, and overall function. The Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication Handicapped Children approach showed improved emotional and relational skills. Studies showed greater efficacy for intensive interventions.
