<div>Over half of the participants of the included studies were on the autism spectrum (51%) and the remaining participants were diagnosed with an intellectual or other developmental disability. Thinning reinforcement schedules following functional communication training was reported to have moderate effects (ES) on challenging behaviors (ES = 0.49) and functional communicative responses (ES = 0.56). These results indicated that reinforcement thinning procedures can be potentially effective to decrease challenging behaviors and increase functional communicative responses. Thinning reinforment schedules was most effective when children had stronger communication repertoire</div>
