Findings demonstrated that melodic intonation therapy or other music assisted speech therapy was associated with improved repetition and increased phrase length in adults with non-fluent aphasia secondary to stroke. Mixed results were noted for comprehension. Findings were limited by significant heterogeneity between studies, low quality of evidence, and small sample sizes. Further research is warranted.
