Of the 13 studies included examining the use of Barton Reading & Spelling System®, none met the What Works Clearinghouse criteria to be considered an evidence standard with or without reservations. Therefore, no conclusions can be drawn on the effectiveness of this intervention to improve the literacy skills of children with learning disabilities.
