Randomized controlled trials

15 studies in the systematic review; 7 studies in the meta-analysis

Majority of the studies included in the systematic review (11 out of 15 studies) investigated the effects of Lee Silverman's Voice Treatment in different modalities, with the remaining studies investigating Parkinson and standard speech and language treatment. Speech and language interventions were reported to have significant effects (MD) on sound pressure level in different tasks (MD = 0.87 to 1.79). Therefore, speech and language treatment demonstrated to be an effective intervention for hypokinetic dysarthria in individuals with Parkinson's disease; however, results were limited due to the differences in the intensity and application of treatment and the differences in the effects sizes of the included studies.
