<div>Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) had mixed effects for individuals with Angelman syndrome.&nbsp;</div> <div> <ul> <li>Gesture instruction generally improved communication across three studies.</li> <li>Use of a picture exchange communication system (PECS) resulted in increased request responses and reduced challenging behaviors within one study.&nbsp;</li> <li>Multimodal AAC interventions resulted in mixed outcomes across five studies, with three studies demonstrating positive effects and two studies demonstrating variable effects.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <div>Limitations to this review include an overall lack of research, small sample sizes, and heterogeneity between studies.</div> </div>
