This systematic review of guidelines investigates rehabilitation recommendations for individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the applicability of the recommendations in natural disaster settings. Of particular interest to SLPs are recommendations for cognitive, swallowing and communication treatments.

<div>Compensatory swallowing techniques, diet modification and oral hygiene are recommended to prevent aspiration in disaster settings for individuals with dysphagia secondary to TBI. (Recommendation: 4/4 Guidelines).</div>
<div>Basic compensatory memory strategies, external aids and learning techniques are recommended prior to hospital discharge for individuals post TBI (Recommendation: 4/4 Guidelines).</div>
<div>Basic rehabilitation strategies such as the use of verbal prompting, imitation, reading and writing, and group therapy are recommended in disaster settings to aid communication disorders secondary to TBI (Recommendation: 4/4 Guidelines).</div>
