<div>A number of respiratory exercises were found to be effective for improving respiratory and voice outcomes in individuals with voice disorders or voice complaints. These included: expiratory muscle strength training, inspiratory muscle strength training, incentive spirometry, isocapnic hyperpnea, respiratory effort treatment, and abdominal breathing exercises. Improvements in respiratory outcomes appeared to be influenced by participant characteristics at baseline and by the type, intensity, and duration of treatment. Additionally, improvements in respiratory function did not always translate into improvements in voice function and vice versa. Therefore, further research is warranted.</div>
