Four randomized controlled trials indicated that the Gans repositioning maneuver improves symptoms of PC-BPPV comparable to other maneuvers (i.e., Epley, Semont) and that no maneuver demonstrated superior outcomes compared to the other maneuvers. The Gans maneuver was found to be safe and effective for individuals with cervical disorders, postural abnormalities, or hip or vertebral column pathologies. The authors note that the included studies lacked long-term data and suggest additional research comparing the Gans maneuver to other interventions for PC-BPPV.
