Findings suggested the following intervention types to have little evidence of effectiveness for social communication outcomes in children on the autism spectrum:<ul> <li>Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicapped Children (TEACCH; effect size [ES] = -0.11); and </li> <li>technology-based (ES = 0.05).</li></ul>

Findings of quasi-experimental and experimental studies suggested the following intervention types to have promising effectiveness for social communication outcomes in children on the autism spectrum: <ul> <li>naturalistic developmental behavioral intervention effect size (ES = 0.35);</li> <li>developmental (ES = 0.30); and</li> <li>behavioral (ES = 0.40).</li> </ul>
