<div>Achieving meaningful communication was important to care partners in their use of AAC. Factors that influenced this theme included the ability to recognize the individual's communication attempts to be able to adapt to their communication methods.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Limitations to this review included the potential for publication, location, and language biases.</div>

<div>Communication partner preparedness was also important for care partners' use of AAC. This theme included training communication partners, addressing their preconceived thoughts about AAC to raise awareness of AAC's usefulness, developing their expectations and belief in the individual with intellectual disability's communicative ability, and working with them in a supportive, collaborative team dynamic.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Limitations to this review included the potential for publication, location, and language biases.</div>
