The authors of this review identified the following tools as reliable assessment measures for aphasia in both clinical and research settings due to their robust psychometric properties:

Language Screening Test (LAST);

Stroke and Aphasia Quality of Life Scale-39 (SAQOL-39);

Oxford Cognitive Screen (OCS);

Functional Outcome Questionnaire for Aphasia (FOQ-A); and

Token Test.

Limitations of this review include the exclusion of potentially valid tools due to a lack of clear reporting, significant inconsistencies in the tools, and lack of consistent norms and standards for assessing individuals with aphasia. Additional research is needed to establish assessment norms and the use of tools in different cultural contexts.
