Findings demonstrated mixed results regarding the impact of hearing aids on tinnitus. Sixty-eight percent (19/28) of studies demonstrated positive results, 14% (4/28) demonstrated neutral results, and 18% (5/28) demonstrated negative findings. Positive findings were generally noted with the addition of masking. Due to heterogeneity between studies, varying quality of included studies, and significant risk of bias, further research is needed to determine the true efficacy of the use of hearing aids for tinnitus suppression.
