<div>Recent controlled studies of Dementia Care Mapping (DCM) have demonstrated mixed resulted in overall outcomes, which may be secondary to variable implementation of the program. Findings of this review suggest that essential features to successfully implement DCM include good leadership, organizational and management support, and careful selection of mappers (i.e. choosing those who have the qualities, skills and time to undertake such a role). However, further research is needed to determine the efficacy of DCM when these factors are controlled.</div>
