<div>Meta-analysis showed overall improvement in outcomes for children on the autism spectrum with parent-implemented interventions (g = 0.55). Specific findings were as follows:</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>improved expected behavior/social skills (g = 0.603);</li>
<li>reduced maladaptive behavior (g = 0.519);</li>
<li>no significant improvement in adaptive behavior/life skills; and</li>
<li>improved language/communication skills (g = 0.545).</li>
</ul>
<div>No differences were seen when mother, father, or both implemented the intervention. Findings were also similar across intervention characteristics such as dosage or fidelity.</div>

<div>This review was limited by missing data such as intervention details, the potential for publication bias, the heterogeneity of outcomes across studies, and lack of long-term outcomes.</div>
