This review's systematic search failed to locate any full-text intervention study evaluating the effectiveness of GLP/NLA-based interventions for individuals with communication disorders. In other words, while there were no studies demonstrating positive effects of these treatments, there were also no studies demonstrating neutral or negative findings.

Additional research is needed to determine the true effect of these interventions and to investigate the theoretical foundations of these interventions.

Limitations to this review include an overall lack of available research and the exclusion of non-English studies. The authors of this review additionally note that "[w]hile the team included two parents of autistic adults, none of the research team identified as an autistic or neurodivergent researcher."

The authors of this review identified a number of potential clinical implications for these findings.
