This systematic review separated CPT treatments into those which employ task shifting (i.e., training of care partners to conduct traditional language therapy exercises) and traditional CPT (i.e., training care partners regarding communication techniques for use with people with aphasia). Findings demonstrated that task shifting was generally associated with improved language outcomes, activity and participation, and quality of life for Chinese-speaking adults with aphasia. Traditional CPT was associated with improved functional language, activity and participation, and patient satisfaction. Due to reduced methodological rigor of included studies, further research is indicated.
