<div>This guideline provides recommendations on the diagnosis and management of adults with acute, subacute, and chronic cough.</div>

<div>For adults with laryngeal hypersensitivity with chronic irritative cough and/or throat clearing, speech therapy can be prescribed (Uncertain evidence).</div>

<div>Individuals with chronic pharyngitis or laryngitis should receive treatment using inhaled glucocorticosteroids. Speech therapy should be prescribed in individual cases with hypersensitive components (Weak recommendation).</div>

<div>Speech therapy may be considered for the following causes of chronic cough in adults:</div> <ul> <li>chronic diseases of the pharynx and larynx such as larynegal/pharyngeal inflammation, polyps, and contact granulomas;</li> <li>paradoxical vocal fold movement; and</li> <li>chronic idiopathic cough (Ungraded).</li> </ul>
