Results indicated "[fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES)] tends to be more sensitive than [videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS)] to penetration, aspiration, and residues, and that both tests are equally sensitive to premature spillage" (p. 2009). These results do not apply "to head and neck cancer patients and other causes of mechanical dysphagia" (p. 2006), as these individuals were excluded from the review's analysis.
